Hazrat Fatima (RA) was the youngest daughter of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) and his first wife Hazrat Khadija (RA). She was the wife of Hazrat Ali (RA). She was born in the city of Makkah in 615 C.E. approximately five years before the prophethood of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). She was just like her father very spiritual and pious lady. She is also considered the “Mother of Imams”. She has been given so many titles such as ‘Zahraa”, “Batool”, “Umm al-Hasan wal-Husayn” and the nicest title “Umm-e-Abeeha”. She was given the title of Al-Zahra, which means “the fabulous one”, because of her great resemblance in personality with the Prophet (SAW) of Allah. Other than that she was also given the title of Sayyidatun Nisa al Alamin (Leader of the women of the worlds).

 

HAZRAT FATIMA (RA)’S EARLY YEARS:

Her childhood was very difficult as it was the beginning of the prophecy of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW), and he was spreading Islam to the people of Makkah. Many non–believers turned against Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) and were after his life. She from a very early age saw the sufferings of his father as he was spreading the message of ALLAH among the people. After a few years of this suffering, she faced the tragic loss of her mother Hazrat Khadija (RA), and Abu Talib who was a big supporter and defender of his father. After the death of Hazrat Khadija (RA), She was the one who took care of his father Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

 

STRUGLLES OF HAZRAT FATIMA (RA):

Hazrat Fatima (RA) had to face many difficulties and complications from an early age. Among many other severe troubles, she had to face, the siege in Abu Talib valley was the most difficult one where she had to stay hungry and thirsty too. But she was a very strong lady and stood by her father all the time like a pillar of strength.

 

MARRIAGE OF HAZRAT FATIMA (RA): 

When Muslims along with Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) migrated to Madina from Makkah, She and her sister Umm Kulthum (R.A.) stayed in Makkah. Then the Prophet (SAW) sent one of his companions to bring them to Madinah. Her age was eighteen years at that time. After the battle of Badr, Hazrat Ali (RA) approached Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) as he wanted to marry her. She was married to Hazrat Ali (RA) when she was eighteen years old.  Hazrat Ali (RA) sold his shield to give the amount of meher. The amount of meher was then given to Hazrat Bilal (RA) by Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) to buy perfumes and the rest was given to Umme Salamah (RA) to buy luggage for the bride. Then Prophet (SAW) arranged the wedding and his companions were also invited.

 

LIFE AFTER MARRIAGE: 

After marriage, Hazrat Ali (RA) and Bibi Fatima (RA) bought a house near Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)‘s house. Hazrat Ali (RA) was not among the rich people, She used to do all house chores by herself. She had five children; two girls, Zainab bint Ali and Umm e Kulthum bint Ali and three boys, Mohsin (probably died in infancy), Hassan and Hussayn

 

HAZRAT FATIMA AS AN INSPIRATION:

The life of Hazrat Fatima is an inspiration for many. She was a very strong lady. She stayed ill most of her life but she didn’t lose her strength at all. She was side by side with her father in spreading Islam. Even after her marriage, she led a difficult life as she was not very rich. She was a hardworking lady and did all house chores from taking water from the well to cleaning the house. Even in this difficult phase she stood strong and became an inspiration for many women that a woman should be strong and patient. She taught lessons of bravery and strength to every woman in the world.

LOVE BETWEEN PROPHET (SAW) AND HAZRAT FATIMA (RA)

Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) was very affectionate towards her. He used to get so happy whenever he meets her. When the Holy Prophet had to travel somewhere the last person, he met used to be Hazrat Fatima (RA), and the first person he meets when he came back from traveling was Hazrat Fatima (RA) as well. Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) once said:

“Fatima is part of me. Whatever upsets her upsets me, and whatever harms her harms me”. (Muslim)

 

Hazrat Ayesha (RA) once said:

 

“I have not seen anyone who more resembled the Prophet (S.A.W.) in words or speech or manner of sitting than Fatima. He is used to kissing her when she comes and so does she.” (Al-Adab Al-Mufrad: 947) 

DEATH OF HAZRAT FATIMA (RA):

She was with her father even during his last time; Hazrat Muhammad breathed his last breaths in her arms. She couldn’t bear the demise of his father and died after 90 days after his father’s death. She is buried in Jannat ul Baqii.
